Grid Computing is an emerging computing model that provides the ability to perform higher throughput computing by taking advantage of many networked computers to model a virtual computer architecture that is able to distribute process execution across a parallel infrastructure. Grids use the resources of many separate computers connected by a network (usually the Internet) to solve large-scale computation problems. |

Companies are learning how to run their data centers more efficiently using less hardware, less software and less IT resources. These companies are turning to a new concept called application grid, an infrastructure layer beneath the application layer that pools and dynamically provisions the resources on which those applications run. Application grid brings the same type of efficiency, scalability, and quality of service to the application layer that database clusters brings to the database layer. With an application grid you get greater efficiency, exceptional agility, and superior quality of service.

Establishing an ESB is essential in delivering a Service-Oriented Architecture. But for an SOA to be effective, you’ll also need your ESB to recover quickly from unexpected hardware and software failures. Clustering can help by enabling your systems to operate in parallel, so that if one should fail, those remaining can seamlessly step in.
